This necklace is handcrafted in a small town called Tiznit in Morocco. For generations, Tiznit have been known as the go to place to get authentic and genuine silver items. This set is particularily made by a talented young man who got his diploma in silver craftsmanship and is reviving the small atelier of his father. The local jewelers make silver jewlery items by themselves (in their homes or their small ateliers) on demand and sell them to the local shops.
They have passed this traditional craft to generations, from jewellery design through to finishing. However, most of them are losing their jobs due to the unprofitability of the business. People are more interested nowadays in buying from big brands or cheap fake items that they can wear for a limited time and trash.
To contribute a little bit in reviving this tradition and supporting the local artisans, I decided to buy a few items whenever I am home (a city nearby Tiznit) and sell them online. This way I could buy from them to support them and more people around the worls would know about them.
